Visit by Mr Christian Masset, Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs [fr]
Mr Christian Masset, Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, visited Singapore on 25 January to hold annual bilateral consultations with the Second Permanent Secretary of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the morning, Mr Masset met representatives of the Urban Redevelopment Authority and the Smart Nation Programme Office during a visit to Singapore City Gallery.
The Secretary-General and the French Ambassador to Singapore, Mr Marc Abensour participated then to the annual bilateral consultations held at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs where they met with Mr Albert Chua, Second Permanent Secretary. A l’issue de ces consultations, Mr Masset had a meeting with Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.
He also held a conference on the future of Europe - "The Future of Europe: France’s Responsibility and Prospects for EU-Asia Relations" - at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS)attended by several ambassadors and diplomats, representatives of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, students and academics.
During a ceremony held at the Reisdence of France in the evening, Mr Albert Chua, Second Permanent Secretary of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite by M Christian Masset in recognition of his contributions to the broadening co-operation between Singapore and France.
