Decoration of Mr Lim Chuan Poh [fr]
Mr Lim Chuan Poh was conferred the medal of the Legion of Honour for his great contribution to the rapprochement of French and Singaporean R&D sectors.
Having served in the Singapore Armed Forces for more than 20 years and now chairman of A*STAR since 2007, Mr Lim Chuan Poh’s career encompasses various strategic domains, from Defence to Education and Research.
He has been a key actor in building close ties between France and Singapore in the R&D sector. For instance, he was a major help for the Singaporean Research and Development implementation of French companies such as Servier, Sanofi, BioMérieux, Danone or L’Oréal.
He also decided to join the French MERLION program, dedicated to support the mobility for scientists and PhD students between Singapore and France. This program has already enabled several hundreds of travels, meetings and workshops to take place either in France or Singapore. A*STAR is one of the major contributors.
Furthermore, Mr Lim Chuan Poh has been recognizing the French expertise in bio-imaging and immunology, providing two eminent French scientists with executive director positions, namely Patrick Cozzone for the Bioimaging institute, and Laurent Rénia for the Singapore Immunology Network.
