Visit by Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad
Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad visited Singapore on 7 and 8 April 2016 on the occasion of the Creative France campaign launch in order to promote French creativity and innovation.
During his visit, Matthias Fekl met with Minister for Trade and Industry, Lim Hng Kiang, and with Senior Minister of State at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport, Josephine Teo. The Minister of State inaugurated the new buildings of the French School in Singapore, one of the largest French School in Asia and throughout the network of French schools abroad, with a maximum capacity of 3500 students.
He also hosted a roundtable on tourism to emphasize the ambition of France in this field, a few months after the opening in Singapore of a regional representative office of Atout France, the French agency for the promotion of tourism.

Minister of State Matthias Fekl took part in the launch of Creative France campaign which was held at the Singaporean campus of the French business school ESSEC. Singapore is one of the ten priority countries of this campaign, led by Business France, which aims at challenging preconceptions, enhancing the economic image of France through deeds and results, and demonstrating that France is resolutely modern, creative, open to the outside and a top destination for anybody who wants to grow their business in Europe. During the seminar, nearly 150 participants exchanged and showcased examples of innovative projects between France and Singapore.
Minister of State’s visit ended with a reception at the Residence of France with members of the French community.
