The Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation presented a book donation to the National Library Board
On Friday 18 December 2015, following the 2015 edition of Voilah ! French Festival Singapore which showcased 2 exhibitions of The Little Prince by the artist Arnaud Nazare-Aga, the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation has presented a book donation to the National Library Board, in the presence of His Excellency Benjamin Dubertret, Ambassador of France to Singapore.
The event took place at the National Library, in front of the “French Collection”. Representatives of the Foundation offered 6 copies of the tactile and unpublished edition of “The Little Prince” to Yeo Ando, Director of the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH), Jamuna Rani Govindaraju, Director of the iC2 PrepHouse, Dr. Wong Meng Ee, Assistant Professor, Early Childhood & Special Needs Education Academic Group at the National Institute of Education – NIE, and Valerie Cheng, Director, Content & Services at the National Library Board.
This tactile and unreleased book is only available in limited number(1,000 copies) and includes 23 engravings which faithfully reproduce the original illustrations of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, with a text in braille, both in French and English. It has been created by blind artist and specialized editor Claude Garrandes, in order have the drawings of this 1943 classic accessible to all persons with visual impairments.
