Regional Economic Service
The Regional Economic Service of the French Embassy in Singapore is part of the international network of the FrenchTreasury (Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment. Under the authority of the Ambassador, its mission is :
to lead the bilateral economic, financial and commercial relations with the Singapore administration, in particular, to drive cooperation and structural partnerships in the macro-financial sector, transportation, energy and environment;
to co-ordinate regional teams (Economic Services) in ASEAN (7 Economic Services covering 10 countries);
to analyse the macro-economic and financial situation in Singapore and in ASEAN, to deal with multimateral issues (trade, investments, G20 issues, free trade agreements between ASEAN countries and the European Union) and to monitor the infrastructural, agricultural and environmental problems in Singapore and the region;
to support French investments and major civil projects in Singapore to protect the know-how and commercial interests of French firms with local authorities.
The Regional Economic Service is managed by Mr Hubert Testard. He ensures the coordination of the French Treasury within the ASEAN region (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and additionally East Timor). Lastly, he leads the regional office of the French Agency for international investments which promotes the attractiveness of French territory.
