Over 40 French companies at the Singapore Airshow [fr]
The French delegation was one of the largest international delegations of the Singapore Airshow 2018 from February 6 to 11 with more than 40 French companies presenting their know-how on the GIFAS France Pavilion.
The French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) brought 40 French companies at the Singapore Airshow 2018. French aerospace companies included prime contractors, OEMs and SMEs.
This large presence of the French aerospace industry showcased the strong ties between Singapore and France, highlighted during the France-Singapore Year of Innovation. The joint Innovation Year is an opportunity to promote cooperation between our two countries in priority sectors including aeronautics, defence and space.
On Thursday 8th February, GIFAS and the Association of Aerospace Industries of Singapore (AAIS) organized the "Emerging Technologies and Innovation Business Forum", an event part of the France-Singapore Innovation Year. This forum focused on Industry 4.0 with digitalization driving greater efficiency in the areas of data management and security, robotics, industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence, and its applicability in the various sectors of MRO/Manufacturing.
GIFAS’ company members aim at long-term cooperation with Singapore. More than 2,000 employees work in French aerospace groups subsidiaries, accounting for 10% of aerospace jobs in Singapore. The city-state has established itself as a leading industrial hub and has become the leading Maintenance Repair & Overhaul centre in Asia. The French aerospace industry is positioned as a privileged partner of the country with a common priority: innovation.
French Ambassador Marc Abensour visited the France Pavilion and the French company booths at the Singapore Airshow. He attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Axon Cable to inaugurate the opening of its new subsidiary in Singapore. He also met with H3 Dynamics, a Singaporean company working closely with 3 French startups. Ambassador delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of Singapore Component Solutions, a joint venture between AFI KLM E&M and Sabena technics.
The French aerospace, defence and space industries revenues reached €60.4b (approx. S$99,1b) in 2016. 86% of the consolidated turnover has been generated by exports. GIFAS is a real showcase of the French aerospace expertise, working hand in hand with its 391 members. GIFAS organizes Paris Air Show, the biggest aerospace event in the world.
