Mr Jean Yves Broussy awarded with the Agricultural Merit Medal [fr]
On the 12th of July, French Ambassador awarded Danone VP Jean-Yves Broussy with the medal of Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit for his work in Algeria.
In honour of his career Mr Jean Yves Broussy received the medal of Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit, during a ceremony held in Danone premises in Singapore and attended by Danone CEO Emmanuel Faber.
The objective of this order is to recognize the outstanding contribution to agriculture made by individuals, not only French nationals but also foreigners. The famous French researcher Louis Pasteur was among the first recipients of this medal in late December 1883. More recently, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, was also awarded this medal in March 2017.
As General Manager of Danone Djurdjura in Algeria, Mr Broussy main focus was to grow the business he was in charge of. Which he brilliantly did. More importantly, he tried to promote the idea of dairy products which were 100 % local. To do so, he worked closely with a network of hundreds of Algerian dairy producers to increase and improve the local milk production. As a result, he was able to rely more significantly on local production for milk supply – to the benefit of Danone but also of Algerian farmers and rural development.
