Decoration of Colonel Anil Sankar
On 16 March 2016, Colonel Anil Sankar received, at the Residence of France, the Gold National Defence Medal from Ambassador Benjamin Dubertret.
The Medal of National Defence has been created to reward the outstanding services of French military personnel in operations. Exceptionnally, this medal can also be awarded to foreigners in recognition of their services to foster the bilateral relation. The Gold Medal of National Defense is the highest level of this award.
Colonel Sankar, a fighter pilot who has flown the F-5, then the F-16 in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, has graduated from the French War College in Paris in 2003.
Ever since, he has been a key actor in fostering the bilateral relations between Singapore and France in the field of Defence. He became the Defence Attaché for France in 2012 and was instrumental in connecting people on both sides and making sure that the different cooperation projects where heading the right direction and at the right pace.
France and Singapore indeed enjoy a broad-based and mutually fruitful relation in Defence matters. This relation is an essential pillar of the strategic relationship between our two countries.
