Canal Académie : a free web radio of the French Academies

Canal Académie is the first online radio providing free downloads of the knowledge available in the French academies.

Broadcasting from the Institut de France in Paris, Canal Académie presents the works conducted by members of :
- Académie Française
- Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-lettres
- Académie des Sciences
- Académie des Beaux-Arts
- Académie des Sciences morales et politiques

Each week, about 15 hours of new programmes are broadcast online for free listening and free downloading, providing more than 1,000 programs assembled in about 20 chapters : «A voix lue» , « Eclairage », « Regards croisés », « Un jour dans l’histoire », « Carrefour des Arts »…

Since the launch of Canal Académie in November 2005, more than 1,000 programme hours have been downloaded and more than 5,000 internet users have tuned in to the web radio.

The latest programme created by Canal Académie is Comprendre et Apprendre. Its objective is to promote the French language using a selection of extracts of communication between specialists on scientific subjects, as well as an interview accompanied by an easy-to-use educational guide accessible to students and the young public.
