Visit of the French frigate ’Provence’ in Singapore
The French FREMM multi-mission frigate ’Provence’ called at the Singapore Changi naval base from Friday February, 26 to Tuesday, March 1st.
This warship, assembled by DCNS, was delivered to the French Navy in June 2015. This is the second of its series after the FREMM ’Aquitaine’. The vessel was launched in September 2013 and made its inital sortie in September 2014. The program includes 10 FREMM frigates, including 8 for the French Navy. The other two are delivered to the Royal Navy of Morocco and the Egyptian Navy.
FREMM multi-mission frigates are among the most technologically advanced ships available. Heavily armed, they implement the most effective weapons systems and equipment and are able to meet the expectations of many navies.
A press conference was held on the ship on Monday, February 29. Frigate Captain Dominique Caillé and Rear Admiral Bernard-Antoine Morio de I’Isle, commander of the French armed forces in the Pacific, talked about the frigate capabilities and the role of France in Asia-Pacific.
