Bpifrance sends 12 SMEs on a retail mission to Singapore [fr]
Twelve SMEs are taking part in the immersion experience arranged by Bpifrance, in partnership with Bienvenue Factory, a recognised retail expert, and the FCCS, the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, a key contact for French companies seeking to enter the Southeast Asian market. These SMEs will spend five days learning about the latest trends in the retail sector and will use this knowledge to assess their development opportunities on this market.
The SMEs, selected from the Bpifrance Excellence network, will travel to Singapore for a five-day-long tailor-made program. The 12 companies will visit numerous sites and hold targeted business meetings with international sector experts and potential clients and partners that might be able to accelerate their development in the region. One highlight will be meeting with event sponsor Martin Ku in the Devialet MBS showroom.
The agenda included a series of networking events, in particular a dinner at the iconic Marina Bay Sands and a reception at the French Ambassador’s Residence, where the delegation was welcomed by Ambassador Marc Abensour. These business leaders had also an opportunity to meet and speak with peers already present in Asia, as well as to learn about concept store trends. They visited several retail chains, including the most recent Décathlon point of sale.
Dubbed the Pearl of Asia, Singapore has become a key hub for international trade and serves as a regional re-export platform with no less than one-third of trade flows to ASEAN countries. Its unique geostrategic position and favourable business climate have prompted many international companies and groups to establish a presence there.
“Bpifrance is making international expansion one of its priorities. Singapore is a true point of entry for companies that wish to penetrate the Southeast Asian market. By offering this type of support, we give participating SMEs an opportunity to deepen their understanding and knowledge of the region and the trends in Southeast Asia, to find inspiration and to identify real business opportunities”, explains Pedro Novo, Export Executive Director at Bpifrance.
