Founded in 1949, the Alliance Française de Singapour is a non-profit educational organisation that has grown to become not only the premier French language school, but also a French cultural centre with a well-equiped library. It is one of the 1,085 Alliances Françaises worldwide which are affiliated to its headquarters in Paris, and serves 4,000 students every year with classes held six days a week.
As a cultural centre, the Alliance Française presents a diverse arts and cultural programme by local or visiting artists, attracting a large number of expatriate as well as local professional audiences. The Alliance hosts, each year, the Singapore French Film Festival, and holds screenings of French movies every Tuesday night. It presents regular exhibitions in the art gallery, as well as a variety of musical performances.
In addition, the Alliance Française library has an extensive collection of more than 18,000 books, periodicals, and multimedia items available for borrowing and browsing.
The “Study in France” office located in the premises of the Alliance Française gives students and the general public, administrative and practical information on studying in France.
