3rd Singapore Space Symposium [fr]
The 3rd Singapore Space Symposium 2016 was held on 21 September 2016; a joint organisation by A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) and the Economic Development Board (EDB). Building on the previous years’ successes, the 2016 Symposium gathered the industry greats of ST Electronics, Airbus Defence & Space, Google, NEC, SES and Thales Alenia Space, and researchers from A*STAR, NTU and NUS; with a specific focus on the requirements, challenges, and directions in the local space sector and the cutting edge R&D being developed in this domain.
France is a leader in the aerospace industry and has cemented its involvement in the Singaporean space landscape through close collaborations with the French National Centre for Space Studies CNES, and the setting up of joint research laboratories such as CINTRA (Thales, NTU and the French National Centre for Scientific Research CNRS) working on nanotechnologies, SONDRA (Supélec, French Centre for Aerospatial Research ONERA, NUS and DSO) developing radars and S4TIN (Thales and NTU). The big industrial players of Thales and Airbus have also established R&D offices in the City-State.
The France - Singapore Workshop was co-organised by the CNES and EDB on 22 September 2016 on the sidelines of the Singapore Space Symposium, with the participation of French players ONERA, ISAE-SUPAERO - a world leader in higher education and research in aerospace engineering based in France, Thales, Airbus, CLS and Nexeya. Four discussions each focusing on a different theme – Technology, Applications, Education and Industry, and headlined by an expert, will be conducted.
A reception was held at the Residence on France on 21 September with representatives from CNES and EDB.
