France in Singapore

In May 2023, the French Multi-Mission Frigate Lorraine arrived in Singapore. It had participated in the evacuation operation SAGITTAIRE in Sudan. In this operation, nearly 400 people were evacuated from Sudan, including UN personnel and nationals of more than 50 countries.

Landing Helicopter Dock Dixmude and Frigate La Fayette of Mission Jeanne d’Arc 2023 arrived in Singapore on the 18th of March- with Captain Emmanuel Mocard, who leads this deployment around the world. With him are 640 sailors and 150 soldiers. This is the largest French mission in Singapore since the Charles de Gaulle in 2019.

On the 17th of January, three French Navy Rafale and one French Air and Space Force MRTT arrived safely in Singapore. This is the first projection of French Navy aircrafts over such a distance from the sea by the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle. They were welcomed by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) at the Paya Lebar Air Base.

I send everyone my best wishes for happiness and health for the year 2023. Many of us were able to celebrate the holidays with family after two years marked by health measures. It is a relief. The French community in Singapore, which has shown great resilience, expanded again in 2022 after two years of contraction linked to the coronavirus. (...)
