Bilateral relations, regional security and security matters (France and Singapore were the co-founders of ASEM - The Asia-Europe Meeting) were issues raised during this meeting. France-Singapore cooperation in the domain of science and technology was similarly discussed. This involved talks on the fight against the bird flu as well as possible joint-cooperative plans of action to counter the epidemic within the region.

Singapore is the principle commercial partner of France in Southeast Asia, and is the third most important, after China and Japan, in Asia. Thanks to the dynamism of the some 400 French companies present locally, our exports have grown by 15% in 2004 and is valued at 5 billion euros. The surplus in our commercial exchanges in 2004, was confirmed to be more than 152 million euros, in the first three months of 2005.
